LeEco teases June 29 event, the world's first SD823 phone incoming with 8GB of RAM

LeEco (formerly LeTV) is holding a product launch event towards the end of this month (June 29 to be precise) in Shanghai, China. This was revealed by the Chinese company in a teaser.

While the teaser doesn't reveal anything about the star of the event, reports say the company will be unveiling a new flagship smartphone. And it won't be just another flagship - the phone in question is said to be the world's first Snapdragon 821-powered device.

Now, in case you don't already know, Qualcomm has reportedly already renamed SD821 to SD823. So by that logic, these new reports are inline with a rumor earlier this month that said LeEco will out a Snapdragon 823-powered smartphone in June.

Moving on, other rumored specifications of the handset are worth mentioning as well, including a whopping 8GB RAM, and a 25MP rear camera unit. Now, these are inline withanother recent rumor that even revealed the device's price: CNY 3,000 ($455/€€405).

If you recall, it was LeEco that launched the world's first SD820-powered phone, so we just can't dismiss the latest rumor as just hot air. But still, none of these have been officially confirmed either, so take all this with a pinch of salt, at least for now.

iPhone 7 will be very similar to 6s, new report claims; headset jack again said to disappear

We've heard a lot of rumors about the upcoming iPhone 7 duo lately, and today there's a new one out. Unlike most, however, this comes from a usually trustworthy source, namely the Wall Street Journal.

The publication cites "people familiar with the matter" saying the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Pluswill not be very different compared to their predecessors, the iPhone 6s (pictured below) and6s Plus from last year. This means Apple will break its self-imposed tradition of coming out with big revamps of its flagship once every two years.

The 6s duo have already been one rehash of the design first presented in 2014 with theiPhone 6, and it appears that the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will mostly look the same. No big changes are expected. In fact the most important new 'feature' of the new phones will be the much talked about removal of the 3.5mm headset jack.

This rumor confirms that move once more, even if just yesterday another report said the analog jack would stay. The removal of the plug will apparently make it easier for Apple to make its 2016 devices water resistant, and also thinner (possibly by 1mm compared to the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus). They will keep the 4.7" and 5.5" screen sizes from previous models.

If you're looking for big changes in the iPhone lineup, then you'll need to wait another year. For the ten-year anniversary models launching in 2017, Apple is working on many new things, including giving them edge-to-edge AMOLED displays (which may even be curved), and eliminating the Home button by integrating its fingerprint scanner into the screen itself.

All of this new technology takes time to implement, which is why you won't see any of these things in the iPhone 7 unfortunately. Hopefully they will come in next year's handsets, though it's still early and things could change.

Galaxy Note 7 to come only with 5.8" curved screen, 6GB RAM

Samsung initially left Europe out in the cold when it launched the Galaxy Note5. As consolation, the Old Continent got the Galaxy S6 edge+, but it wasn't quite the same.

Rumor has it that this time Europeans are getting the full-fat Galaxy Note 7, which will have a dual-curved screen.

Allegedly, Samsung took a while to figure out how the S Pen stylus will coexist with the 5.8" curved screen. There won't be a flat screen version to avoid fragmentation.

The screen will be a Super AMOLED with QHD resolution and the similarities with the S7 don't end here. The phone will be powered by an overclocked version of the Exynos chipset paired with 6GB of RAM. Following in the footsteps of the S7, the Note 7 will bring a bigger battery than its predecessor - 4,000mAh (up from 3,000mAh).

The camera will feature the 12MP dual-pixel sensor, but will sport improved software. The additional features will reportedly be ported over to the S7 and S7 edge with an upgrade.

Previous rumors suggest the Note 7 will have an IP68 rating, an iris scanner and a USB Type-C port.

The rumor suggests the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will arrive in mid-August at €800 (price for the Netherlands, should be a bit lower elsewhere).

Xperia X series pre-orders are now live in US

If you are in the US and have been waiting for Sony's new Xperia X series smartphones, here's some good news: the Xperia X, X performance, XA, and XA Ultra are all now available to pre-order in the country.

A couple of third party retailers, including Best Buy and B&H Photo, are currently accepting the pre-orders.

Sony has already announced the US availability and pricing details for the devices. For those who missed, the Xperia X will go on sale starting June 26 carrying a $550 price tag, while the X performance and XA will both land on July 17 carrying $700 and $280 price tags, respectively. Finally, the Xperia XA Ultra will see its US launch happening on July 24. It will set you back $370.

ZTE Nubia Z11 leaks again, specs and pics in tow

ZTE Nubia Z11, the flagship phone of the latest 11 series, just can’t be kept under wraps. The Nubia 11 is going to be announced on June 28 as the official teaser confirmed, but it's been in our rumor section for quite a while.

The Nubia Z11 mini and Nubia Z11 max went official in April and early June, but the Nubia 11 will be detailed at the end of this month. Cristiano Ronaldo himself is teasing the Nubia 11, which may mean there is chance of a limited edition with his signature similar to the Z11 max.

Today the Nubia Z11 popped up in AnTuTu's database and so it exposed its specs online. There is nothing surprising though as we were already familiar with them, this is just a confirmation. The Nubia Z11 will pack a 1080p display and run on the Snapdragon 820 chipset with 4GB of RAM. The internal storage is 64GB, and the camera setup offers a 16MP rear and a front 8MP sensors. Finally, the Android version in charge of the tested device is Marshmallow.

In case you are wondering, previous reports suggest the Nubia Z11 will house a 5.5" screen with 2.5D glass and employ a 2,900 mAh battery.

A new leaked picture confirms the 2.5D glass, but also suggest an almost bezel-less display, which is quite nice.

Everything about the Nubia Z11 looks interesting, so we are eager to see what ZTE will show us on June 28.

iPhone 7 leak reveals the headphone jack isn’t going anywhere, possible dual SIM variant, as well

A new leak, surfaced from social network Weibo in China, revealed several parts that are allegedly part of the materials list for the upcoming iPhones. There still appear to be two variants, one with a 4.7 inch screen and another with a 5.5 inch screen.

What’s interesting is despite all the buzz and speculation surrounding Apple’s possible omission of the classic 3.5mm headphone jack, the parts that were leaked clearly show a lightning port assembly which includes the 3.5mm headphone jack after all. Perhaps Apple wasn’t trying to make the new iPhone as thin as the recently announced Moto Z which, in fact, has no 3.5mm at all.

The parts leaked include a dual lens camera module which would be used on the alleged iPhone’s ‘Plus’ variant, SanDisk memory chips with storage up to 256GB of memory, display panels of both 4.7 and 5.5 inch variants (still not much info about the display itself), the lightning port assembly (which includes the 3.5mm jack), and a dual SIM card tray for a possible dual SIM variant.

Other leaks suggest the iPhone 7 may look similar to the iPhone 6 (Plus) and 6S (Plus) with the exception of a slightly different camera position and perhaps some shuffling of the ports underneath (depending on the headphone jack). Oh, and let’s not forget about the repositioned antenna line.

Still, we don’t know too much about the iPhone 7’s new hardware features like the dual camera setup or the dual SIM support. Apple iPhone users take the longest to upgrade phones among any other manufacturer; this comes with pros and cons for the consumer and company alike. We hope, for Apple’s sake, that the iPhone 7 doesn’t look too similar to the 6 and 6S models.
